About Raw Dog Food
Most experts in fields that research the benefits of raw dog food recommend Biologically Appropriate Dog Food or Bones and Raw Food (BARF) for a dog’s diet. They said that dogs are able to tolerate this diet.
Protein is very important in a dog’s diet, so dogs need meat. Beef, turkey, and chicken need to be served in their diet daily. When buying any kind of commercial dog food, look at the ingredients. The first ingredient should be meat and not soy, corn, or grains. Corn, soy, and grains are poor protein substitutes that do not have many health benefits for your pet.
Chicken and turkey bones should be crushed up and sprinkled over their food, but beef and pork bones can be given to dogs whole for them to chew on. Bones are also great for their teeth. Bones are a great source of calcium and potassium. Also, do not cook bones. Give it to them raw.
Natural antioxidants are plentiful and found in fruits and vegetables, which should also be given to your dog. Broccoli and green peas are also good snacks for dogs to munch on between meals while providing great nutrients. Seeds and stems are toxic to dogs so they should be removed. Some dogs have sensitive digestive tracts so before you give them grains, you should consult with your vet.
BARF and its benefits
Commercial dog food does not have all the ingredients to provide your dog with a healthy, balanced, and sustainable meal. But raw food such as meat (of the best quality), fruits, and vegetables should be readily fed to your dog to maintain its health and wellbeing. Turkey and chicken necks, chicken backs, and legs are convenient raw food to feed to your dogs. These can be served with chopped broccoli, carrots, and even cucumbers. To prevent heart disorders and skeletal sicknesses it is recommended to ensure that your dog is provided with Vitamin D and E.
When your dog eats grass when you’re taking him/her on walks, let them. This grass is beneficial as it cleanses their colons and assists in digesting undigested food.
This diet results in your dog’s fresh breath and white teeth, along with fewer toxins in their food. Also, the amount they poop will significantly increase, and the smell will also be less intense. Their coats will become glossier, allergies heal faster, and you would need little supplies.
Why Raw Dog Food isn’t Harmful to Dogs
Because dogs have short and acidic intestinal organs, bacteria will have no time to reproduce and cause an infection. Their internal environment is very hostile to invaders, causing them to eventually die out with no trouble to your pet.
